Heading into week 16, Fantasy Papa (663.9) holds a 26.75 point lead. He’s had a solid line up all year and he is committed to his top 8 draft picks. Over the last three weeks, he has had solid scoring for almost every area of his team except T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He is the one player who as underperformed over the three weeks. Is this his week to break out? With a 26.75 point lead going into the week, a score of 150+ could very well deliver the title. Here is Fantasy Papa’s starting line up and average points over three weeks:
QB-Donovan McNabb-22.68
RB-DeAngelo Williams-28.63
RB-Adrian Peterson-16.83
RB-Thomas Jones-20.63
WR-Wes Welker-17.76
WR-Greg Jennings-15.23
WR- T.J. Houshmandzadeh-10.26
TE-Tony Gonzalez-18.5
K-Ryan Longwell-8.5
Def-Baltimore-12
Fantasy Papa is averaging 171.02 points per week. He has a team that is worthy of winning the overall prize, but there might be a few teams ready to pounce on him this week if he isn’t firing on all cylinders.
Here are the top contenders to knock him off this week:
Kyndal’s Camels-637.05 points
Top Players-Tony Romo, Steve Slaton, Chris Johnson, Marion Barber, Dominic Rhodes, Andre Johnson, Roddy White, and Jason Witten
Analysis: Kyndal’s Camels positioned themselves in second after monster weeks from Andre Johnson and Dominic Rhodes. His chance of winning will most likely fall on three games-Dallas/Balt, Houston/Oak, and Indy/Jax. The Dallas players drew a top defense in Baltimore. Romo, Witten, and Barber all looked to be banged up. The Barber injury worked out fine as Dominic Rhodes was up to the task filling in for him in the starting lineup last week. Dominic Rhodes played so well that he probably a lock to be in the lineup over Barber. If the Camels are going to make a run at the title, Tony Romo is going to have to fine a way to put up a few TD’s on Baltimore. It is a must win for both teams. I’ve been waiting all year for Flacco to have that clunker game. Dallas pass rush is in full gear and there is no doubt they will blitz the run. If Flacco gives Romo the short field, the race for the $300,000 might be in sight. Jason Witten doesn’t look like he is 100% and Chris Johnson might need to fined a way to hit a homerun against the league leading Pittsburgh’s rushing defense. Patrick Crayton has to show up on the stats sheet this week.
Outlook: A few better match ups and the game could be on. There is excitement here, but the Dallas game is the key to victory. I would have dreams of a Seattle/Baltimore from a few years back when the final score was something like 44-42.
Ray Ray’s Revenge-636 points
Top Players-Matt Schaub, Matt Forte, Brian Westbrook, DeAngelo Williams, Greg Jennings, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Brandon Marshall, Anthony Gonzalez, and Owen Daniels
Analysis-Ray Ray’s Revenge matches Fantasy Papa at three positions. Is this that a good thing or a bad thing? I think he is close enough where matching three players doesn’t hurt him. He is 27+ points off the pace which is only a couple of TD’s and 150 yards of offense. As he mentioned on the radio, Anthony Gonzalez is a wild card for him. He now steps in the starting lineup for Indy with Marvin Harrison ruled out of this game and he has a bump in fantasy value. The question: is who does he sit? He has two impact players in Brandon Marshall and Brian Westbrook who could make up the 27 points between them with a couple of great games. There is the chance that the Denver game has no meaning if San Diego loses. I think life would be a lot easier if the Cinci game was at 4. The Matt Forte injury has to be a concern, but he shown some toughness playing last week after go to the locker room. I think he finds away to get on the field.
Outlook: When you look at his team, he has enough talent to get it done. He has a couple of tough decisions and some sleepless night before the weekend is over. He has couple of aces in the hole, but he is going to have to hit the flop to win this week.
RC Techies-634.77
Top Players-Kurt Warner, Matt Forte, Thomas Jones, DeAngelo Williams, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, Lance Moore, and Owen Daniels
Analysis-Just like Ray Ray’s Revenge; RC Techies matches Fantasy Papa with a couple of spots in the lineup. The biggest decision he will have is which kicker to play and I’m sure he won’t lose any sleep over that. The weather in New England might be the key for his success. The possibility that Warner has the quick hook has to be a concern, but I believe he will get a fair shake in the game. Warner, Moss and Andre Johnson are all capable of explosive games. Lance Moore should get a bump up in production with Reggie Bush ruled out of the New Orleans game.
Outlook: I’d have some excitement with this team. New England has given up 26 passing TD’s and they don’t pressure the QB well enough to knock Warner around. If they blitz, Warner will surely have chances to make big plays in the passing game. If there is worst pass defense than New England, it is Arizona. They have allowed 31 passing TD’s. Moss will have his chances to make plays the week. When Houston takes the field at 4 PM, there might be one player capable of delivering the title-Andre Johnson.
World Players-626.88
Top Players-Matt Cassel, Pierre Thomas, Steve Slaton, Clinton Portis, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith (Car), Antonio Bryant, Santana Moss, and Jason Witten
Analysis-The World Players have a totally different lineup than any of the other top teams. They only match Jason Witten with Kyndal’s Camels. They have three hot players-Matt Cassel, Pierre Thomas, and Antonio Bryant. The biggest question they have is: Santana Moss or Clinton Portis? This is very interesting team that has some good match ups if the weather breaks in New England. If the New England/Arizona game is wide open, World Players will be drafting RC Techies up the leader board.
Outlook: The combination of hot players and star players might have this team sitting on the lid come Monday morning hoping for wind and snow in Chicago. A 30 point lead would make the Monday game very interesting, but it will come down to one move-Portis/Moss.
Hawk and Roll-618.45
Top Players-Donovan McNabb, Steven Jackson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Anquan Boldin, Roddy White, Antonio Bryant, Steve Breaston, and Chris Cooley
Analysis-The quarterback position might be the key for Hawk and Roll to have success this weekend. He has enough star players to make a push and he is the sole owner of Steven Jackson, MJD, Roddy White and Anquan Boldin. I think he needs McNabb to hold his ground this week at QB to have a chance. I don’t think he can lose 10 points at QB to any team ahead of him to have a chance. Boldin has been held in check for a few weeks and has a sore shoulder. He is the key for him. He has no chance if Boldin doesn’t have a monster game. I like the fact the Cooley hasn’t scored in weeks and his best game of the year was against Philly. He might be able to be the best TE in the league this week.
Outlook: He’s at the far turn with enough gas in the tank, but he is going to have to get through all the traffic in the home stretch to make a solid run late. A down week by the over lapping players might leave him poised to steal the title.
