As preparation continues for the 2009 World Championship of Fantasy Football one thing is for sure, the Auction Championship is poised to grow.
In 2008, the WCOFF introduced the $1K Auction Championship. As an auction style counterpart to the legendary Main Event, the $1K Auction Championship featured league awards and a $25,000 overall prize. 72 teams took part in the $1K Auction Championship and the WCOFF expects this format to grow again in 2009.
The tentative schedule features the $1K Auction Championship on Friday afternoon, giving it a premium time slot in what has evolved into a jam packed weekend of fantasy football drafts.
The weekend kicks off on Thursday night with participants enjoying the season's first game of the year. Immediately after the first game, the GridIron draft takes place. And once Friday morning rolls around, the drafts are essentially non stop with Draft Masters leagues in the morning, the $1K Auction in the afternoon and new this year is a Friday Evening Main Event draft session allowing participants the chance to enter two teams in the legendary Main Event.
And then on Saturday, it is every fantasy football players dream day. Walking into a room filled with fantasy football drafts. Last year's event space consisted of 70,000 square feet of nothing but fantasy football drafts. It's truly paradise for the diehard football fan.
