The NHL season is rolling into the All-Star Break. Real-life general managers will assess their teams before the stretch run starts and fantasy GMs will have to do the same.

Here are 10 story lines to follow as league catches its breath this weekend:

Can Jeff Carter keep it up? The Flyers center scored 30 goals in his first 45 games this season. Philly is powerful and deep. But at some point, doesn’t this guy have to cool off? On a side note, the Flyers need to create some cap space to bring Daniel Briere back from the injured list. He has been a non-factor in this fantasy season. Don’t be shocked, though, if Briere finishes with a flurry.

What will become of Vincent Lecavalier? The Lightning center came back to life, scoring 17 points in 12 games. Perhaps he has finally overcome last season’s shoulder injury. Rumors are swirling that Montreal hopes to add him before the trade deadline. And with the Lightning on uncertain financial ground, the franchise may want to move him before his 11-year contract (and no-trade protections) extension kick in. That would send his fantasy stock soaring.

Will the Senators be buyers or sellers? Ottawa is on pace to miss the playoffs. The team's goaltending is in disarray, with rookie Brian Elliott (2-1-1, 2.23 goals-against average, .921 save percentage) starting, Alex Auld sitting and veteran Martin Gerber scraping off his rust in the AHL. Jason Spezza (37 points in 43 games) heads the list of players on the potential "trade" list.

Will the Bruins get healthy? Phil Kessel (24 goals in 42 games) is out with mono. He heads an injury list that also includes power forward Milan Lucic (26 points, 84 PIMs in 40 games), Marco Sturm (13 points in 19 games) and Patrice Bergeron (18 points in 31 games). Boston was a stat monster when these guys were healthy. Sturm is out of the season and Kessel could miss another three weeks. Can David Krejci keep up this scoring pace in this depleted lineup?

Will Mats Sundin make a mark in Vancouver? In his first six games with the Canucks, Mats has scored three points and posted a minus-3 rating. He is still getting his legs under him. Will he regain his usual point-per-game form during the stretch run?

Will Ilya Kovalchuk finish big? After going nine games without scoring a goal, the Thrashers star scored eight goals in a nine-game span. He has 11 points in eight games during the New Year. Perhaps the team’s captaincy will suit him well.

Will Marty Turco get hot? The Stars goaltender shows signs of getting his old game back, but then he gets rocked. His save percentage this season is .883 and his goals-against average is 3.13. Yeech. This Dallas team has been a massive disappointment.

Will the Capitals score like crazy? Washington has been down the road Boston is traveling now. But the Capitals are back at warp speed, led by Alexander Ovechkin. Alexander Semin has scored at a point-per-game pace since getting healthy.

Will the Panthers finish strong? They haven’t suffered an overtime loss during the New Year. Winger David Booth has scored 11 points in eight games this month. Cory Stillman has eight points in his last eight games.

Can Chris Osgood pick it up? The Red Wings goaltender is 15-3-5 this season, but his high GAA (3.23) and low save percentage (.883) have limited his fantasy value.
