If you had members of the Cardinals on your fantasy team, you had to fret about QB Kurt Warner’s six-turnover game in Week 8. Did the former MVP finally realize how old he is and how many miles are on his odometer?

Was he finally drifting toward the sunset of his career?

As it turned out, this was not the case. Warner bounced back nicely Sunday, blasting Lovie Smith’s once-proud Bears defense with five touchdown passes.

What he could have done had injured WR Anquan Boldin been ordered out of the lineup to protect his wounded ankle from a soft turf? One shudders to think about that.

“It's especially nice to balance all of my picks from last week with my touchdowns from this week,” Warner told the Arizona Republic. “But that's part of the game. It's one of those things that I've been through many times. Unfortunately, I will probably go through it again. But so much of this business is how you respond.”

With Boldin VERY eager to return for a big finish to this regular season, Warner’s stock is trending very well.

Here are the some other good, bad and ugly developments from Week 9 of the NFL season:

THE GOOD

Dallas Clark goes uncovered against Houston. The Colts TE caught 14 passes – fourteen! – for 119 yards from QB Peyton Manning. He had 10 catches in the first half alone. “It did feel like a whole game, that’s for sure,” Clark told Yahoo! Sports. Oddly, Clark didn’t score a touchdown. There’s always next week.

Mike Sims-Walker takes charge. The Jacksonville passing game isn’t all that explosive, but this WR has 554 yards and four touchdowns during the last six games. He hasn’t let that earlier one-game benching bother him in the least.

(Philip) Rivers roared through the Meadowlands. The Chargers QB threw two picks against the Devils, but he rallied his team late with his third TD pass of the game. He has led 11 fourth-quarter comebacks in his NFL career.

Greg Olsen finally delivers a breakout game. Bears QB Jay Cutler talked about his need to feed his TE more often, as he did during the preseason. And sure enough, he hit him three times for TD passes. Nice. But that was about the only good thing in Chicago’s performance.

Randy Moss tears up the Dolphins. The Patriots WR piled up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown against Miami. Ho hum. Nobody can cover this guy when he cares.

Steelers blitz the Broncos with hurry-up offense. Denver had no answer to Pittsburgh’s no-huddle scheme. WR Hines Ward caught a couple of TD passes from QB Ben Roethlisberger and RB Rashard Mendenhall rumbled for 155 yards. This was most reassuring to fantasy GMs heavily invested in Steelers.

Michael Turner runs wild. The Falcons RB has rushed for 317 yards in three touchdowns. He tore up the Redskins for 166 yards and two long TD runs. This is what fantasy GMs had him in mind when they made him a Top 5 pick in many drafts. “Enough was enough,” he told reporters after his team beat Washington.

Josh Freeman makes a successful debut. The rookie Buccaneers QB rolled in his first NFL start, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns. This is good news for the entire Tampa Bay offense, which had been largely useless to fantasy GMs this year. “Six or seven weeks ago he was nervous and messing up on plays—just not ready,” Bucs TE Kellen Winslow said. “He’s really made strides. We’re proud of him.”

K.C. enjoys Chambers music. WR Chris Chambers arrived to give Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel somebody to throw to. Matt passed for 262 yards and two TDs, both to Chambers. This is good news for an offense that subtracted RB Larry Johnson after getting little down the first half of the season.

THE BAD

The Ravens defense stops the run nevermore. Bengals RB Cedric Benson has burned that unit for a couple of 100-yard rushing games this season, for a total of 237 yards. How can that be?

Clinton Portis suffers a head injury. His poor season got worse, prompting the Redskins into seriously considering discarded Chief Larry Johnson. That would really brighten the mood.

Alex Smith comes back to earth. In his second start as the 49ers QB, he suffered four sacks, lost and fumble and chucked three interceptions. San Francisco used a lot of spread offensive principles to make him more comfortable, but it didn’t help so much.

The Packers protection collapses at Tampa Bay. Green Bay allowed six QB sacks, giving them a league-high 37 for the season. Aaron Rodgers is holding the ball too long, true, but that is a ridiculous stat.

THE UGLY

Matthew Stafford is feckless in Seattle. The rookie Lions QB threw five interceptions in Seattle, more than offsetting his two TDs. Is this rookie headed in the wrong direction? If so, what will that mean to RB Kevin Smith and WR Calvin Johnson? Johnson had just two catches for 27 yards, but later denied he had issues with the kid quarterback.

“There’s no issue there,” Johnson said. “You always want to be winning games and happy and cheerful, but goodness gracious, if you had a camera on every person on every play, you could try to read between the lines on a million things. There are times you need to talk things out, but there’s no issue here with the players, and I don’t understand why people are trying to create one.”
