Poochie Bennish has known only one position at the end of every week since the World Championship of Fantasy Football Main Event playoffs began in Week 13. He's been the only person to be able to look at the standings on Tuesday morning and see his name atop the leaderboard, in quest of the $300,000 cash award and title of World Champion of Fantasy Football.
And tomorrow morning won't be any different for Poochie Bennish and his squad, Fantasy Papa, surviving by the slimmest of margins. Only .85 of a point seperated Fantasy Papa from Ray Ray's Revenge, owned by Robbie Brown. That's right, less than one single point; meaning one single reception more, ten more yards rushing, 20 more passing yards, 10 yards receiving......less than one single point and Ray Ray's Revenge would have claim to the most prestigious title in fantasy sports.
In a game that appeared to be over, on multiple occassions, it was a decision by Chicago Bears Head Coach, Lovie Smith that ultimately decided Robbie Brown's fate. In overtime, on 3rd down Smith elected to attempt the game winning field goal, just in case the snap was mishandled, which would allow his team another chance at ending the game on what would then be 4th down. As a result, Robbie Brown and his running back Matt Forte weren't afforded the chance to pick up the final .85 points needed to assume the top spot.
The 2008 World Championship of Fantasy Football season was so good, it couldn't be contained in regulation in both of the final two games. Both games needed overtime to decide the outcome and the result was a fantastic finish in the WCOFF Main Event.
**The Official WCOFF results will be released on Friday, December 26th after the statistics for Week 16 have been validated.
