The trend in the NFL that is proving to be a very logical one is that teams are moving to a two running back backfield, giving them more flexibility and a higher likelihood that their skill players will remain healthy. It is a sound strategy – but one that really hurts fantasy owners.

An interesting trend in fantasy football is that in this day and age of information – columns like this one, twitter, website updates, etc – way too many people rely on fantasy magazines come draft day. As someone who writes for such magazines, I am certainly not going to say that they do not have value. Of course they do – they are the backbone of your draft day preparation. However, you cannot simply work off the list in your favorite draft magazine and take it as gospel.

The big debate when it comes to wide receivers is where exactly do you take them? Many believe that if you are sitting in the pick six to eight range that you should target Houston's Andre Johnson. Others believe that if you pick a wide receiver before pick ten then you are destined for failure. I do not share that viewpoint. In my mind, with so many running back by committee situations in the NFL, I feel that a stud number one wide receiver is far better than the seventh or eighth ranked ...

Let's take a look at the final pieces of your roster – the kickers and the team defenses. While we are not talking about players that will be at the top end of your fantasy draft, you cannot simply “punt” on either position. With more and more leagues requiring tight ends as part of the regular starting lineups, the position has come under more and more review. A handful of elite players headline the position, some of whom are even more valuable than starting wide receivers. After those players are off the board, there is a significant drop off in overall value.

I thought I would take a little time and look at the past champion's team in the World Championship of Fantasy Football. I only have the drafts from the teams. I don't know what their final roster looked like. It's easy to look back at last year as I have the draft and the winning team. I don't have the draft from the 2007 winning team, but I have a couple players. I tried to find it online. I don't have the WCOFF magazine from 2008, but I was able to pull up Kenny Lavallee's interview from ...

If you are selecting in the top four spots this year there is no doubt that you will be getting a wonderful player. The margin is so close between the top four running backs that every mock draft you look at has the four ranked in a different order each time. The opinions and analysis of who to select is wide ranging.
